For a long time, the polishing processes of workpieces, such as thermal cups, faucets and blades, are mostly done by manual processing, which is a typical labor-intensive industry. Manual processing, time-consuming and laborious efficiency is low, and product consistency is poor; and in the polishing operation, the dust is big, the labor intensity is high, the workers who are engaged in manual polishing for a long time are often fingers, cervical vertebra deformation, and even pneumoconiosis. Fierce market competition and rising labor cost make the related enterprises have strong demand for automatic polishing equipment.
Recently, progress has been made in the force controlled polishing robot developed by the precision movement and advanced robotics team of the Ningbo Institute of material technology and engineering, the Institute of material technology and engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The two generation prototype has completed preliminary debugging. The polishing robot based on force control imitates the operation of workers polishing the workpiece, aiming at three dimensional curved surface revolving hardware. By controlling the contact force, the polishing tool keeps constant contact between the polishing tool and the workpiece. The polishing force is controlled by 10N-500N. The polishing quality is effectively guaranteed. The maximum surface roughness of the workpiece after processing is Ra1.6, and the surface contour of the workpiece can be automatically tracked, the wear of the grinding tool and the thinning of the workpiece in the process are automatically compensated, and the automation of the workpiece polishing can be realized, and the replacement of manual work should be made. It has a bright future. The machine has low operating skills for workers, easy to operate, basically without programming, low power consumption of the whole machine, the rated power of 1500W, and the maximum rotation speed of the spindle of the polishing wheel is 3500rpm.
The polishing robot developed by the team closely meets the industrial demand in the Yangtze River Delta and the "machine changing" strategy in Zhejiang Province, which will help promote the upgrading of the production capacity of the related enterprises. At present, some famous enterprises have shown great interest in the project, and expressed the hope of further cooperation.
